About Marlin de Haan:

German performance and visual artist. Since 2003, she has been working as a director and artist, mainly in the independent theatre and arts sector in Germany. Her diverse projects involve working with actors, performers, dancers and musicians and she also offers workshops for performing arts at universities and theatres (e.g., at the Academy of Arts in Dresden and at Forum Freies Theater, Düsseldorf). Several of her productions were invited to national and international festivals, such as Festival Favoriten, Freischwimmer-Festival or Junge Hunde Festival. Last year she was part of a government-funded artist exchange programme between Germany and Croatia. At the moment she is living and working in Istanbul as a guest of the artist-in-residence programme of the Arts Foundation NRW (Kunststiftung NRW).

As director and artist, she is interested in the diversity of performance styles, the vast possibilities as well as the limits of performing arts. Her projects, including short films, share a focus on space, storytelling, and materiality. A main objective of her work is to experiment with the tension that bodies and objects create in space. In line with that, her work has been presented on stages, at exhibitions or in public space.
